Absolutely. Some of the best days we have are putting a young angler on their first fish. I don't have a strict age minimum, but I usually recommend ages 5 and up so they can really enjoy the experience. If your child is younger and comfortable on a boat, reach out ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. The crew helps guide them through everything -- how to hold the rod, what to watch for, and how to fight the fish. We are patient, we adjust to their pace, and we make sure it is a positive experience from start to finish.

Most days out of Honokohau are very smooth and manageable. Kona is known for calm conditions compared to a lot of other places, especially in the morning. That said, the ocean is still the ocean -- there are days with more movement than others. If you are concerned, I recommend taking non-drowsy Dramamine or Bonine the night before and again one hour before departure. Staying hydrated and eating a light meal beforehand also helps more than people expect. We will always do what we can to position the boat comfortably, but it is best to come prepared if you are prone to motion sickness.

Yes, beer and wine are fine in moderation. No hard liquor and no glass bottles please. This is still an active fishing charter and safety always comes first. Most groups find the right balance naturally -- relaxed, fun, and focused on the fishing. If you are unsure about what to bring, just ask ahead of time.
